Hello. You probably don't know me as I haven't grown a giant or been on this site for many years. My daughter and her friends would like to grow one this year. I know, she's getting a late start however it's just for fun. I still have 5 seeds in the fridge from back in the day (2005-09) thanks to Eddy Z, Bill Rodonis, Steve Sperry and Steve Connolly. And I saved one of my 923s. Two questions. Does anyone have a set of how-to-grow-a-giant instructions they could email me? Also, do you think 10 y/o seeds will still germ? Thanks for your help.

i remember when you were growing several years ago.we communicated several times and, i believe you started a pumpkin boat contest as well?
dont believe ten yr old seeds would be the way to go. to many things need to be perfect for germination of old seeds.plus todays genetics are far superior.
ron and i will have an extra plant for you if you care to take a drive to greene r.i.
if interested call me at 401-392-1015

Pap Wallace wrote a great book "Dick's Tips II" which is available for $10 from the SNGPG. Probably the most bang for the buck when it comes to starting and growing giant pumpkins. Ron Wallace has growing tips on http://wallacewow.com/pages/pumpkin-growing-tips.
And Ron is also sharing his growing tips in his diary on bigpumpkins.com

Thanks all for your responses. And thanks for the offer of a plant Dick. When I drove to SNGPG meetings/patch tours (years ago) I'd get there within an hour from Rutland. I'd love to make the trip again and see you all, I'll give you a call.

Answer to your question is yes I germinated a 2003,it is growing fine. The downside is 6 other 03 seeds didn't though.
