Hi, I've just planted my 1416 macdonald into my greenhouse about a week ago, yesterday I notice one leaf is yellowing around the outer edges quite bad.
Any idea why?
Thank you in advance Joe

Usually it's from the soil being too cold. Do you know what temperature it is?

Hello and thanks for the reply
Not sure of the soil temp, but I have black plastic on the soil and a 6" (approx) opening for the plant.
The inside greenhouse temp today was near 80f so I opened it up more and let it cool down some.
I'm not sure what the optimum temperature is supposed to be in the greenhouse, but I figure about 75 F ?
Tomorrow I will probe the ground and find out the soil temperature.
I've been watering it almost every day, maybe too much water also?
You have to forgive me I'm a total newbie ...
Thanks!

Yes don't overwater. You want the roots to stretch out so it'll get set and start vining.

A little warm water with some nitrogen containing fertilizer (fish probably a good choice) if you have only been watering. If you have been fertilizing, just let it dry out a bit.

Agreed, it's got cold feet (roots). You've planted earlier than I would recommend without using heat cables or overnight warmth of some kind. Soil temperature in my patch is still only 52 degrees and that is simply too cold.

Hello and thank you for all the information
I do have a 12 foot soil warm and cable but I don't know how much good it's doing. I use my compost to monitor to probe the soil in the greenhouse, and it said 70°. Quite honestly I find that hard to believe… I would say it's closer to about 50 to 55.
I can easily maintain 75° air temperature inside the greenhouse on most days or even warmer if I wanted to.
I think I will put a small heater or a lightbulb next to it to keep it warmear

Just placed my small ceramic heater in my greenhouse set to about 68f or so.
So now I have both a heater for the greenhouse and a soil warming cable both working at the same time ......I'm hoping it makes for a little happier plant :)
Tomorrow I will give it a small drink of warm water and a mild solution of fish fertilizer
P.s. .. I can see some small new leaves starting to grow, so I guess it is growing slowly… Very slowly

I feel like I always have a slow start, but yet I'm always pollinating in June except for 2012. I've never used soil hearing cables either. As long as there is new growth you are well on pace as of now.

I would be very pleased to be able to pollinate in June
Above is a link to my 1416 macdonald I noticed substantial growth to one of the leafs even since this pic was taken earlier in the day :)
