With so many products out there, what do you feel are some important ingredients to add to the planting hole for your pumpkin seeds?
Thank you, Mark G.

Outside? Alfalfa meal (3-2-3), blood meal and Mycos here. I'd probably add humic as well, but didn't have it at the time.

Probably the most important thing in our hole is the 7.0 pH!

I like myco, azos, B-vitamins, liquid seaweed and a little mono-ammonium phosphate. There is some good research that supports using all of those in the planting hole. B-vitamins and seaweed will help with any transplant shock and help with rooting. Myco, azos and Mono-ammonium phosphate with help with the root mass.

I'm with Ian on this one. I treat the whole patch the same. Its just one big pit with all the goodies I'm going to need:)
I may put an extra bag of worm castings in the planting area but everything else gets spread across the entire square footage of the patch.
That patchmaster guy told me he digs a 8 foot deep hole, 1 foot wide and dumps everything in the hole. I'm not sold on this idea yet.

I treat the entire patch the same too...but I will add that I broadfork as deep as I can for good drainage before I make my hill. Pumpkins do not like wet feet. Mycos and humic acid are a must for me also.

I forgot to add the most important thing or else your plant can be ruined in 5 hours and all else is irrelevant... a spot pesticide to kill seedcorn maggots. I've had an issue with them and I believe Shazzy did too.

ASIDE FROM MANY OF RONS WOW PRODUCTS WE ALSO PLACE A CUT WORM RING AROUND ALL NEW PLANTS GOING INTO THE GROUND.( CUT IT OUT ONCE IT STARTS TO GET IN THE WAY AFTER A FEW WEEKS)
WE NEVER HAD THEM BUT AS THE GODFATHER SAID WHILE DISCUSSING WHETHER TO RUB OUT THE UNION CHIE IN THE MOVIE CASINO -- "WHY TAKE A CHANCE?, AT LEAST THATS HOW I SEE IT"

At my two planting sites so far, I added Spring Wake-up, Humic Acid, Pumpkin Pro, Pumpkin Power, and RootShield Plus. Added to the patch and planting sites is sulfur, Manganese in granular form, Copper Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Borax(all three dissolved in water and sprayed over patch. Also, I sowed the Southern half of my patch with Mustard seed to Fumigate the area. Will add Blood Meal and Bone Meal later.

Just a tad curious...? Do you do all of this b/4 or after a soil test from a reputable soil testing lab? Peace, Wayne
