this might seem a bit silly, but what is the difference, if any, between dark brown seeds, and white or light colored seeds??? down here we have only ever seen the dark brown seeds. i thankfully received some seeds recently, and the seeds where nice and hard, so they look great, but they are very pale in color,. this will be my first attempt at growing giant melons; thanks for any input...

I asked a similar question to this a while back, This is the information i received, hope this helps, There should be no different's in germination white or red-brown. As long as the white seed didn't come from a melon that had red-brown seeds when it was done. The color of the seeds in a melon are from the genetics.
You can also plant a white seed and get a red-brown from it. (Genetics) Most red-brown seeds go way back to the 168 Johnson seed 1998 I think is the year.
