Just another reminder to the masses. This contest is more than growing a big pumpkin, It's about giving support to a very worth while cause and there are so many of them out there. The winner also gets to pick the charity for the next year as Tim did for this one. As a side note, we do get a few tag along growers that join in and this upcoming trip is no exception. We have Jack Larue ( I believe this will make trip #5 for him) and our newest member is none other than the 2015/2016 Hall of Fame inductee Steve Daletas making his first trip to the land of the midnight sun

The trip is a 20 minute flight out of Yellowknife in the North West Territories. Time of trip is totally up to the winner. I like the summer Solstice, June 21st cause it never gets dark. We have left the dock at 11 pm to go fishing and come back in at 2 AM The fall(September) has its perks with the Northern Lights (trust me, they're awesome) and the lakers spawn in the fall so catching 100 or more is not unusual. June gives you the chance of HUGE Pike up to 50+ inches. I think 48 is the biggest I seen on a hook, but have seen bigger ones just laying on the bottom. July and August are slower months but there is a wood fired hot tub, and a full bar with an awesome cook so you don't have to just fish. Canoes, Kayaks are there, hiking to Eskimo inuksuk's is second to none. Cable TV internet and all the comforts of home. and we generally do a day fly out to a remote lake that might see not other anglers in the whole summer Here is the lodge Web site http://www.yellowdoglodge.ca/ and here is the lodge facebook page https://www.facebook.com/YellowDogLodge Everything is included, FYI its an 18 hour drive straight north from my place so yep it's a ways up there

Eddy is spot on. It is a great trip for a good cause. Yellowknife is truly the land of the midnight sun. I have been fishing at midnight several times. At midnight there is not a sound unless it is the call of a loon or maybe the howl of a wolf. On my visits I have seen a white wolf, Moose, bear, Lynx & Woodland Bison. I have caught and released over fifty fish a day on at least 3 of my 5 trips to Yellowknife. In June the Northern Pike are on a tear. Followed shortly there after by the Walleye. The fall brings on the Lake Trout spawn. Fishing is unbelievable. The air is crisp, the fall colors are all around you. Than at night another show takes the stage the Northern Lights. They are something to see. Eddy count me in.

The Walleye seem to be the most aggressive in late June early July.

Bubba the fall may be the time that works best for you, if you do not mind catching 30-50 fish a day. They run around 4-8 pounds and really know how to fight. The weather is much cooler days shorter. September 2015 we hired a float plane for a remote drop off. The weather turned on us into a Northwestern gale. Strong winds heavy rain and rough water. We beached the boat and fished from shore. We still landed about 150 fish between the three of us.
