Hi, I still have "some seeds in my pocket" that I´m not going to plant. Since I left my former home and pumpkin growing a few years ago, I depend on some limited space in another city since then.

Today, I have a "breeding installation" for all kinds of seeds with temperature, water and humidity control. I like to see the peppers, tomatoes etc. growing up which works like a charm in this unit.

Would you still plant a 1260 Weir or a 1236 Eaton today?
This is the basic question in this thread.

I have no idea these seeds will still make their way with my installation, but just in case someone is interested in getting a good old fashioned AG plant in 2016. If the seeds will make it, I would have some plants over here for sale.

Hi floh,

It's good to see you back on BP.com.

I remember your diary from 2004 when you planted the 1260 Weir and the 1236 Eaton. They both had nice orange color and also good shape. Do you know of anyone that grew your 1260 X 1236 or the reverse. I thought those were very good crosses you made.

I'm not looking for seeds for seed myself though.

Best regards,
Doug

Hi folks, thanks for your feedback. I will not be able to plant AG`s at this time, but it might be the last chance to breed some of these older classic seeds with trial and error...

From my side, all seeds kept dry and dark in envelopes at room temperature for the last years, although a 1260 Weir seed is 14 years old right now...

What did you do breeding older seeds? I have a fish tank bubbler to swell them up before, and an empty fish tank to let them germinate at the right temperature, light and humidity.

I never used chemicals or so to germinate seeds. If you have ideas from experience, let me know.

Hi Doug, to my knowledge my 1260 X 1236 or the reverse had not been planted after. I still have seeds and would like to give them a try - if these seeds, after 11 years of storage, can still make it...:-)

I decided to make a detailed report about my "breeding installation" in the seed starting part of the message board during the next weeks.

Still waiting for some parts from Asia (with their cheap fancy electronics...) right now to get things completed and tested with affordable investment from my side in early April.

Please stay tuned and have a look.
