a paczki is a glorified bakery style jelly filed donut that come once a year.all the local news reminds everyone every year to go get their Paczki's its like a local POLISH holiday around here. the lines will be 100-200 feet outside a bakery, looks like a line to buy concert tickets.it may take 1-2 hours sometimes just to get a paczki.

Some places have them around easter time. It's like a jelly donut on steroids. Lot's of Polish people in the Connecticut river valley in CT and Western MA. They came here around the turn of the century and worked the shade leaf tobacco fields.

Here in PA Dutch country we have fauchnauts on Fat Tuesday they are a potato pastry made with lard and lots of sugar.
