Anthesis Data Summary (Question 7 of 8)

7- Why is there a shelf life to the (premix and post mix) product?

The shelf life of the brown vials premixed and kept frozen is 5 months. The blue capped vials should be stored in the refrigerator, and their shelf life is about 1 year.

Post mixing the contents with distilled water will reduce the shelf life of both ingredients to about 12 hours. This essentially activates the ingredients and will cause them to breakdown. This is a benefit, as the goal is to have the hormones be active for a short period of time. If they were not to break down then there would be an over-expression of the hormone signal that could cause mutations and malformations. The simple fact that they break down is a good thing and only causes a beneficial shift in the cell signaling during the critical period. This may not sound like enough time, but this is why the application timing is so critical, as this is the short window of opportunity to get the maximum effectiveness from the natural cell cycle.

Very good Matt!

After the completion of this summery data, a 7 or 8 step on keeping mosaic far from the patch would be cool.

BatCaveN8- Thanks for the comment and there is still one last question I will answer. Hope you have enjoyed the series.

So.Cal.Grower- You are in luck, I have only a 3 step approach and as an added bonus I can share it with you right now...

1.) Beneficial Insects (Green Lacewings)

2.) Visual Barrier (slight physical barrier)

3.) Scent Repel (applied more to the patch perimeter than the actual plants)

Best of luck this year!
