As I am getting more and more emails on this, here is the plan If you live in any country that requires a pyto for seeds, I will do the logistics. All I ask is that you get me the seeds here to me by the end of July. I will then get the pyto's and send out the seeds with tracking. Each country and or state will require separate pyto's, and I can bunch up several growers under one Pyto. The cost is the same for 1 seed as it is for 200 seeds. So the more growers that get together, the cheaper it is when the costs are split up. After everything we went through for New Zealand last summer, we pretty much have the system in place as all country's down under are following the same protocol. I have a Canadian and US address for the seeds to be sent to. So if they are coming from the US, send to the US address and if they are coming from anywhere else in the world, use my Canadian address. Please email me for these addresses so I at least get a feel for how many are coming and from where Thanks eddy eddyz@efirehose.net

Will the seeds be sent to a particular person in each country who will act as a clearing house for the seeds?
I would like some seeds to go to Grace Lusty in NZ for her school programs.
I already have your USA address, and plan to send at least 100 seeds, plus a donation for postage.

We will send all seeds to New Zealand for example in one envelop and send to one address and they can separate when they arrive to all the growers. This way I will only need one Pyto to each country.

Caveman We did that with New Zealand last year. I did 4 test runs and we were stopped for one reason or another until we finally did the Pyto and the first was declined until I had to get a shippers declaration. Once we had everything together and we sent the first set of seeds, they didn't even inspect them. so go figure. But if you would keep me in the loop and let me know how your shipment goes, as it will help in the future. I have seeds coming for Tasmania and I know they are a province of Australia so we may be able to have you be the distributor once the seeds get to you. If your seeds are stopped, you can get them re sent to me and we can get the wheels in motion

I just mailed a large package of seeds to Australia. We might be talking about the same one. I didnt realize I needed phyto testing to make it through customs. That would probably explain why the seeds I sent to South Korea still haven't made it. Where can I find more information on phyto testing. Also Eddy I have the 1725 Harp seed that I owe you. I've been typing "(name of country) USPS" into Google search to find out mailing restrictions for different countries.
South Korea doesn't seem to have any phyto requirements.

Once something goes overseas, it's a crap shoot. You may complain about mail delivery in the USA, but mail delivery in other parts of the world is chaotic, to use a polite word.

The rules only just came into affect for Australia and I only just found out. If the seeds get caught up, we can curcum navigate them back through here, hopefully they go through as is. The info on Pyto's is different from country to country, The US laws are way more strict than ours in Canada and I can tell you all about it from here but that won't help you much. I would first contact your USDA and get them to set you on the right course Hold on to the 1725, I know of 2 guys growing the seed this year, you can be used as a back up for one of them if needed if that's OK with you

Thanks VTSteve. Either they don't update there tracking info or it takes over thirty days to mail something to South Korea.

South Korea doesn't provide tracking info. I'm still waiting for a card to get to an address in Buenos Aires, Argentina after 6 weeks in transit.

Eddie, i received the box of seeds today from America, that i have been waiting for. they have not been open for inspection and where labelled with the senders name and address, my name and address, and clearly marked as cucurbita maxima, on the package; the seeds where from Peosta ia-usa. with a value of $5.00 on the box. i have got seeds for a while marked the same way. i just hope this keeps going; one of our customs people said that they would be checked, and another one, said they would go through, if the package was less than 2 kgs. again it could be a case of just who sees the package??? if i find out any more, i will let you know. thanks

That's great, I hope they do the 2 KG package rule, I wish all country's did that
Here is the notice I got: To whom it may concern The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has identified you and/or your company as an importer of Cucurbit species (seed or nursery stock imported for growing purposes) or a stakeholder who has contacted the department since the introduction of emergency quarantine measures were implemented for Cucumber Green Mottle Mosaic Virus (CGMMV) in late 2014. The purpose of this email is to notify you that the department has expanded the regulation of emergency measures to include two additional CGMMV seed and nursery stock host species (Cucurbita maxima and Cucurbita moschata). A public notification alert was recently issued on our new Biosecurity import conditions (BICON) database – link provided https://bicon.agriculture.gov.au/BiconWeb4.0/ViewElement/Element/Alert?elementPk=278583 For your reference, the content of the alert is provided below: Notification to importers of Cucurbita seed and nursery stock This notification is to advise all importers of Cucurbita species that the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has extended the host range for Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) and updated the emergency quarantine measures to imported Cucurbit seed and nursery stock to address this quarantine risk. What is the change? To manage the risk of further introduction of CGMMV into Australia, the department is extending the emergency measures to the following species of Cucurbita (seed and nursery stock) to apply to two additional species that are known to host the virus: Cucurbita maxima (synonyms: Cucurbita andreana; Cucurbita maxima subsp. andreana; Cucurbita maxima var. turbaniformis; Cucurbita maxima subsp. maxima; Cucurbita turbaniformis) Cucurbita moschata (synonym: Cucurbita pepo var. moschata)

When will the change occur? The change to import conditions take effect on 17/12/2015. What about consignments that have landed or are in transit to Australia? For seeds: Imported Curcubita seed that does not have phytosanitary certification demonstrating that a 9,400 seed sample was tested by ISTA 7-026 method of ELISA and found free of CGMMV, will require mandatory onshore testing of the consignment. For full import conditions, please refer to the BICON CASE ‘Cucurbit seed for sowing requiring testing for cucumber green mottle mosaic virus’. For nursery stock: There are no active import permits for Cucurbita spp as Nursery stock. Note: Imports of nursery stock that are a host of CGMMV are suspended entry into Australia. Notification of review of emergency measures for CGMMV To comply with Australia’s obligations under the World Trade Organization’s Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Agreement (SPS Agreement), the department has initiated a pest risk analysis to review the emergency measures against CGMMV associated with host seeds, to ensure that the risk mitigation measures continue to be justified. The draft pest risk analysis will be released shortly for stakeholder comment on the department’s website. Clients who are interested in subscribing as a stakeholder, may do so by completing the stakeholder registration form, available on the department’s website at http://www.agriculture.gov.au/biosecurity/risk-analysis/stakeholder Further information Please contact Plant Import Operations at imports@agriculture.gov.au or by telephone on 1800 090 900.
