I have been reading a lot on these two products. Serenade Bacillus Subtilus staring QST 713 and Companion Bacillus Subtilis strain GB03.

In an article from NC State is is stated that the Qst713 strain is the best as a foliar spray and the GB03 strain is more effective as a root drench.

Should I use both? Has anyone used both and what was your thoughts? Any help is greatly appreciated in my quest to decide whether to use one or both next season.

Thanks,
Mikkal

don young

I use both
as of now both strains are a bayer owned product but growth products markets the companion of course

agri quest sold out to bayer the qst 173 strain last year

odd fact Kodiak from bayer discontinued slow sales and people ive contacted over the years blamed it on a not being 10 million dollar a year product they said

original Kodiak gb103 had 5 x 5 to tenth power colony forming units per gram-same as gallon companion

qst 173 theres many versions

I like the optimimum newer version comapared to the max

Depends on the goals you seek to achieve. Both products serve primarily in defensive roles...if its root protection you seek then GB03 is your guy. If its foliar health, then QST.

So if my goal is to lessen the use of strong chemicals in favor of more biological management I could use both to help in both the root and leaf zones.

Will the two strains affect each other adversely or will they simply populate and help in their primary areas?
