My son and I spent more money this year than ever before (mostly me) and we won more prize money than ever before. All together we have about broken even over the past 10 years. We worked our butts off but had fun doing it.

Some people play golf, some people have a big expensive camper, some people have a fancy fishing boat, and some people go on big ass vacations every year. The very little extra $$$$ and time I have goes to this hobby.

if its something you want to accomplish you will make it happen even if its not technically "affordable"

but remember you can spend all the money in the world and it will not be rewarding in this hobby if your mind/time/ and a smidge of luck is not all together in it

I really enjoy the competition as most of us do. It doesn't go away as you get older, at least in my case. My body is too sore from past sports competitions. Growing is something I can do and will spend some $$$ to help in being the best I can be. Winning money is not my main motivation at all. Being the best grower is.
