It's that time again. What are the things I need to know before attempting to send seeds to Germany? I seem to remember that there were no concerns last time I tried, but I don't want to get blind-sided by the post office.

Hi Cliff, on the customs sticker on the bubble you should declare the seeds as "pumpkin seeds", because that´s the best way of getting them to Germany without any troubles. (Sometimes I had to pick up bubbles from the next customs office, and I wouldn´t want to explain why there is a seed inside the bubble although something else is written on the sticker.) Also, it would be helpful if the sender mentioned a small amount (something like 5$) as the value of the contents. Then it will be below the threshold for the customs to claim fees, and the bubble will automatically be sent to my mailbox (at least in most cases). Bubbles with contents of "no commercial value" will by random be picked out of the bunch of bubbles for closer inspection and every year I had to drive to the customs office to pick up such a bubble whereas some other of them landed safely in my mailbox.

Sounds good. I was wondering if I needed a phytosanitary certificate, but I guess not. I've never needed one before.

Never had to deal with such paperwork for the seeds to come into Germany.
