Fellow Growers, I am seeking any data from those growers that tried my “Anthesis” spray this past season. I am looking for any information or comments you may have. Growth data comparing sprayed vs. unsprayed pumpkins is ideal, but also any general comments or anecdotal information can also be helpful. You can post here, or e-mail me the details; it does not matter to me. I am looking to compile some comments and information for the various winter newsletters, so the more feedback I can get the better. Your comments can be positive, negative or even suggestions for next year. I have my own ideas at the moment, but I value everyone’s input, so if you used it, all that I ask is for some feedback.
Information about Antheis can be found at the following links: General Directions: http://www.team-pumpkin.org/downloads/Anthesis-Information.pdf
The Science Behind Anthesis: http://www.team-pumpkin.org/downloads/IncreasingCellDivisionsmaller.pdf
At this time I know that Anthesis produced… -1 pumpkin over 2,000 pounds -2 pumpkins over 1,900 pounds -3 new personal bests for growers -2 top 2015 weights for growers
*In short, I plan on making up more Anthesis for next year, but as of right now, I may have to take advanced orders only as I need to know how many samples to prepare. It does take some time to get everything set up and precisely mixed. I am glad that many growers had a successful year.
Thank you for your interest.

I applied antheis to all my fruit matt,.. Heres the negative,, the two fruit that BS on me I sprayed antheis right on the lobes,,because I had all ready taken the pedals off, not sure if thats what caused the thin walls on the blossom end or not, however keep that in mind..
The positive, both my 1965 and 2096 were still growing when I cut them from the vine, at 110 days old the 2096 put on 50 pounds or roughly that amount in the 6 days leading up to stillwater.. We pre-weighed..so not sure if it was my greenhouse or your product..it obviously did not have a negative effect..

You also used bigstem ;) I think using both hormones is the key to 2500!

Whats the difference between " Bigstem " and " Antheis " I thought they were the same thing? Different hormone?
I used Anthesis on my 1719 and never seen a pumpkin grow like it did before it blew at 1053 just past day 40. I'll be using again for sure!

My product is hormone based as well but has a hormone regulator to help keep the hormone levels in the plant under control. Matt's Anthesis is a great product too applied at day two or Anthesis stage where as mine is applied at day 2 as well as day 30 and day 70 to help with peak levels of stress in the plant I truly believe both hormones are the ticket to 2500+

So in short bigstem is far different as it used to control turgor pressure through the plant and applied to stem and stump mainly keeping them from aging and applied to leaves keeps them from subnessing. So Matt's Anthesis doubles cells and big stem keeps them healthy year round :)

Thanks go out to those who have e-mailed me as well as Josiah and So.Cal.Grower for providing some information about their experience with my Anthesis spray. I welcome more people to share with me their experiences publically or privately as the greater comments/data I can get the better I can generate more meaningful conclusions.
I want to clarify that I do not think Anthesis “doubles cells” as has been suggested. I feel that I can only state that Anthesis increases the rate and duration of cell division. I am unsure of the exact numbers for giant pumpkins. However, there should also be a ripening delay which is consistent with many growers reporting continued growth right up to harvest. “Bigstem” is developed by Tconway and I look forward to seeing the data set for its effectiveness.
Also, to everyone interested in some for next year, let me compile the feedback and comments to see if I need to make any adjustments to my formula. This is why I am seeking data, as I want any adjustments I make to be data driven because I feel the scientific literature has gotten me to this point. Now, my goal is to see if I need to refine anything to better suit our giant pumpkins.
Keep the data coming!

I wanted to chime and say well done Matt! The science behind Anthesis and extended cell division as we know it is solid. There will someday in the near future be many applications that a product like Anthesis can be used on.
Imagine bringing larger fruit and yields to market. There is also the potential that with Epigenetics that these offspring seeds may carry enhanced cell division qualities into the next generation.
I will say it again. The prior studies we reviewed and last years Savage et al, are and will truly be a revolution in the way both competitive and commercial fruit is grown in the future.
