This question always comes up when judging a fruit.

No wet flesh exposed anymore. And "soft" is subjective IMO. Some of us are stronger than others :)

No soft tissue. If I look up this an any horticulture book at my college they all say the same. " a healed over wound is one that no soft tissue is exposed"

Only my opinion, the first spot on josiah pumpkin witch was a 5" wide and 5" deep and sucessfully healed was fine ! But the second spot that was 12-16" was not aceptable !that being said the rules are 5 years old and may need some small adjustments.a 3" spot on a 2000 lbs pumpkin is not that big.or the two or more soft spot rule at any size may need to be looked at. That rule alone could eliminate half the pumpkins entered.

All factors that need to be judged in person-photos and 2nd hand info don't cut it.

Healed is dry, no exposed internal tissue.
