Subject:  Increasing the size of the scale!

For some weigh-offs 4 x 4 platforms are no longer sufficient. The concern is that the corners of the 4 x 4 platforms can damage these very large pumpkins. This year we are working with a fabricator to build us a larger platform "top." This will sit securely atop our scale and add at least 8" in each dimension. The top will be plasma cut with rounded corners to avoid pumpkin and shin damage. If anyone has already done this and has input it would be appreciated.

i have a 5ft x 5ft plywood deck on top of my in house floor scale,inside my greenhouse and it still is hanging over the new deck ,,,but its better than the steel deck ,,,, corners are sq.-----pumpkin is set to grow from corner to corner

Perhaps GPC rules could be amended to allow a plywood or metal deck to be placed on the 4 x 4 platform. Electronic scales can
easily zero out the additional weight before a fruit is placed on it.

Yes, Chris reached out to me on this one. I believe in this case, a steel plate firmly attached to the top of the regular scale plate is still considered as part of the scale.

Just grow smaller pumpkins Chris & you won't have a problem. ;o). LOL.
