Arrived home to a letter sticking out of the mailbox today, and wanted to share it with you all...part of the reason that I continue to grow these Giants.

"Hello, Im from Little Rascals PreSchool. We were just wondering if you will be having your Giant Pumpkin Display again this Fall? We thought maybe with the watering restrictions this summer that you may not have grown them? The Children get so excited and love to go see them. Last year we had over 80 children, from five groups come by to see them. We really do appreciate your efforts and if its not too much trouble, could you please call me to let us know when they will be on display again this year."

Made my day...

Awesome Glenn.
The preschool in town here brings kids out to see ours in the patch every year just before harvest time. They love them.

Exactly Glenn.. the elementry school is just up the street.. this will be the first time in 8 years with no pumpkins on display for us (bummer)..a lot of people make a special trip just to see them ... makes it worthwhile seeing all the kids and parents getting excited when there out there..really makes the season for us

Most fun I ever had with a pumpkin was a few years ago when mu son grew a 866#, bright orange birdbath pumpkin. We let people place their babies and little kids in it for great photos. Lots of happy parents. Then our neighbors across the road photographed their grandchild on it after we had carved it. She did a watercolor painting and brought us a framed print. Things like that make all the work worthwhile.
