Hi Everyone out there in giant pumpkin land.

As we move into the heart of the weigh off season I would like to wish everyone good luck at the scale.

Please don't forget to make your own luck in the last few but very important details of the season, lifting and moving your fruit.

Even a tiny Atlantic Giant is heavier than what most of us are used to moving so please be careful. No official weight in the world is worth risking your safety or that of others.

If you are not sure about the safety of your lifting rig leave the fruit in the patch. If you are not sure about the capacity of your vehicle leave the pumpkin at home.

Secure your load properly for safe traveling and while driving remember that the vehicle will need a lot more time to stop and accelerate, bring a navigator whenever possible and familiarize yourself with your route before you leave home.

Remember that you may be leaving home and returning in dark and cold conditions and experiencing warm summer like temperatures in the day so you may need sunscreen and shades along for the ride and you will be a lot fresher for the trip home if you pack a decent lunch and some soft drinks.

Good luck to all and enjoy your weigh off!

very good post.

I would like to add to the securing the load properly....

physics are in play when you come to a stop. An object in motion will stay in motion. I have seen several pickups with the back of the cab bashed in from the pumpkin sliding and smashing into the cab.
