A vole has damaged my pumpkin with chew marks, some perhaps up to 1/2" deep around the bottom front. Most are around 1/4" deepI have off course set out poison around the pumpkin and in all the nearby vole holes I could find. The damage stopped immediately. However, I'm thinking I should do something to the existing chewing marks. Any information or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would clean the chew marks with a soft toothbrush and hydrogen peroxide and then dry them with a rag or hair dryer. Put sulfur powder in and on top of the chew holes and keep them dry. Exposé the chew marks during the day to the sun to keep them dry and help in healing. You should be fine but make sure you keep them dry. Goodluck.

pooh-bear's answer is spot on, my experience has been that as long as you have done a anti-vole management the scars will heal by themselves when kept dry.

I have had really good luck with rubbing alcohol. It cleans and drys out the wound. I have had holes over an inch deep that stayed hard right to the show. And yes keep it exposed.
GOOD LUCK
