Bubba was nice enough to send me a 1947 last year. This seed has lots of potential, but I have very limited room to grow now that my yard is the kids domain.

Anyone who can tell me what this is (specific name) gets the 1947 Clements sent to them.

well you can tell you young'uns aint never used one

it is a single tree

but has nothing to do with the neck or a yoke

It is used for a single horse BETWEEN the buggy and the horse to account for the shifting back and forth as a horse walks/trots.

If you have two horses you have to use a double tree.

So that is the random useless data for the day. Thanks for sharing Luke, brought back some old memories.

lol wayne.

I grew up in the hills of Arkansas/Missouri and my granddad used horse drawn implements and buggies to get around the place. Later my dad adapted many of the things to use with a tractor. Most of them are still in the barn where my mom lives.

The traces hook into the ends. But what is unusual to me is that it is braced with steel the full length.

the ones that are reinforced with steel were for heavier loads, usually like a plow or pulling logs out of woods.

We have many Amish people living near by so I asked. The correct answer if you even do a web search it's call a "Wooden Neck Yoke"

not trying to start an argument, and the amish should know, but a neck yoke (after I looked it up -- never heard of one) has a much bigger center ring to hold the tongue up and I'm pretty sure they are longer than an single tree because the horses have to have room. At any rate, looks like at least 4 single trees hanging in my dad's old barn.

Cecil's right. It's definitely a single tree. My parents had several old wagons and a original Wells Fargo stagecoach. Plus all the stuff needed to hitch up a team on our property. Neck yokes are different. I still have several single, double trees and neck collars. Use them for decorations.

Have yet to hear from Spence... Cweibz is #2. Single tree is good enough for me. I will also agree that it could or couldn't be a yoke. lol
