Have any of you been standing in the patch when you have audibly heard a BES? With so many splits this year, the sick question came to my mind...wouldn't that make a noise? I've always just stumbled on em after they have already happened.

Ive had them 3 years in a row, and like a potent fart, I believe they are silent but deadly.

3 years ago I was standing beside a pumpkin being unloaded at the weigh-off as the grower cut loose the clear plastic it was wrapped in for a long ride. It made a very sickening pop as it split open. Would have taken third place too.

Not a BES, but one of last year's pumpkins cracked upon the slightest touch, shooting a 10' split across it. I'll never forget that sound.

I watched my bes happen last week I sat there for 30 min. In a trance watching my season end. What a way to go out... It didn't make a sound
