In reading the discussion about types of pumpkin flesh. I was wondering how many people use the thump test and if so do you think it works? I have not been the best at determining my own pumpkins density by this method. I am wondering what other's experiences are.

Joe Jutras method I learned from Don Young.Place the palm of your hand flat on the kin at the blossom end.Then slap your pumpkin with your other hand.(flat palm)at the stem end.If you feel vibration at the opposite end?you have a air bubble.If you feel nothing, its a rock.It works.Thanks Don Great tip!!! Special note Dont get caught spanking your pumpkin.The neighbors will talk.lol

Yes I think I saw you on TV Doc,are you what they call little people.Cause my pumpkin last year was over 5 feet long.I can reach 5 feet 10 tip to tip.Its great to have you little people on board.Pumpkin Growing is great all walks of life get in on the fun!!!

Mines being delivered on a semi with a wide load banner it won't fit in my dually even with three pallets high, so no tailgate for me. See ya in October. 375 bucks ta ship it.
