I posted this question a few days ago under the title of Stump Suckers but didn't get any response from previous growers of the 1813. My 1813 has zero, none, nada stump suckers while the rest of my kins have some and one has a ton of them. Does anyone have an answer or even a theory why some vines have no suckers (which I really like) and why some have a lot more?

I grew an 1813 last year. The plant was giant, I also had a PB going until it split, but what is a stump sucker?

I keep thinking about that scene in the movie stand by me where the one kid finds a leach in a very wrong spot.

I've never had a plant with an abundant amount of them. Usually one a few pop-up leaves on the stump late in the season. I usually let any new growth go crazy starting about this time in the season as my oldest leaves are aging quickly.

If you spray with roundup, you won't get many of them.

They're like those fish that swim by and grab a hold of a bigger fish and go for a ride Luke. " Stumpsuckers "
And yes, MNFisher is right,,,, round up will knock them off.
