For our Colorado RMGVG growers the Tomato is our club featured fruit for this year. $300 1st place, 200$ second, $100 third.... Must meet all GPC early tomato rules and had to be registered as a club member by June to be eligible for this Colorado contest... We wanted to motivate growers with limited growing space to compete at a high level...moving towards WR potentials...growing a mile above sea level....It only grows bigger from here....

Thanks, folks! The seed was Domingo, 4.647 Delectation of Tomatoes 2014, briefly the Utah State record. They were included as a sample packet in a seed order. It's my first year growing giant tomatoes, and now I'm hooked. So to Dale at D.T., I thank you, and my wife, who already thinks I spend too much time in the garden, curses you ;-)

Wonderful to hear that the Domingo produced well for you Mark!
Please give your wife my deepest apologies.
Oh wait, make the excuse I use: "I have 'Addictive Personality Disorder' - which addiction would you prefer I substitute for this one?"
Just joking, of course, but maybe you can get a chuckle out of her.
Keep up the excellent work!

It was great to meet you mark. The photo doesn't do that thing justice. Biggest tomato I've ever seen. A heck of an effort for a rookie year.

Hi Jamie, it was great to meet you, too, and thanks for the compliments. Here's a better picture that shows the size of this tomato.

From the measurements, this tomato should have weighed over 4 lbs, so it went light. Next time, I may let it ripen a bit more.

@buster - I'm not sure about the cantaloupe, but the tomato had a circumference of 21.5".
@Colorado Pumpkin - you must be Chad. I saw your Youtube video. Nice job! Next year, let's grow a 4 lb tomato, then a 5 lb'er!
