My long gourd vies are great. But one they are set, they are growing like tiny fish hooks. This is weird!

Poor pollination? Too much nitrogen? Do you have and brown patches on the leaves? I get a brown rust-like fungus during hot humid weather that affects the leaves and fruit. It gets on the trees in my valley too. I think I over applied nitrogen sources. The vines went crazy big this year. I don't have any gourds going at this point. These things are tough to figure out.

What genetics are you growing? Some lines just start out that way...very thin and curly fry like.

Bill,

Long gourds are "night flowering" - are you hand pollinating?

The heat conditions are prunning a lot of sets for many vine crops right now! Hopefully you'll get some to set.

Good luck

Night flowering? Do you have to pollinate that night or will morning work? I noticed that on a gourd female last night, it opened around 830pm. I thought the plant was off too. lmao
