Carl, I take it your point is that more growers should be posting to BP diaries or people will migrate to facebook??? I too would like to see more growers posting, particularly in Ontario. But BP is our Giant Vegetable Growing Home and I really can't envision members jumping ship and posting only on facebook. As an aside, I post on instagram, twitter and facebook for the benefit of my close friends. Lots of people following the growth of my veggies and taking interest in this hobby.

There is absolutely no danger of BP becoming irrelavent to FB or any other social network. I agree with Bubba and Glenn, FB will only bring attention to this great site, not take away. Bigpumpkins is a niche site that brings together
( mostly ) like minded folks. There is tons of information here, all you need to do is query or ask.

I just went to Indiana State Fair with a pumpkin. The people I spoke with that wanted to grow a big pumpkin were in courage to come to here first. Facebook is horse of a different color altogether. Don't do facebook if you think you are missing something!!!!!

I wish I could remember who posted on Facebook a few years ago something along the lines of, " how come every friend request I get is a profile picture of some guy next to a huge pumpkin".

Big pumpkins.com is still the center of our universe (outside of the actual patch). Nobody would know nobody outside of their state if not for this site.

Getting the word out can never be bad.. as long as the information is pure and accurate......it will only serve to grow the baseline growers that will then also come to BP to learn more and grow better....
