I have a late pollination pumpkin on dap 12 that is developing some discoloring on the top side of the pumpkin and on the stem. I have posted pictures, which I will link to this message as soon as they are approved. This is similar to the spots that caused the soft spot on my 1070 Crews.Sulphur dried it up but the skin around the area appears to stop growing. Nothing has rubbed up against the pumpkin. Does anyone have an idea of what this is and what I can do to prevent and cure?

Sorry if being too obvious, but are you getting sprays like a chemical or fert on the pkn?

My spots turned brown to black and then fuzzy...after tissue samples it was a fusaria alterteria (sic) problem, But my pumpkins never got past bowling bowl size. maybe its a late bloom in your patch. Good Luck! GrowEmBig! chuck

I dusted with sulphur and the spots aren't spreading. My leaves are disease free so I think it could be some type of mold. On my 1070 Crews the spots scabbed over. Anyway, weather is fabulous for pumpkin growing over the next few weeks. I won't tape until dap 20 but growth looks very good.

Farming- a bunch of catastrophies that result in a lifestyle

I had a plant last year that every baby did this exact thing on. I mixed up a strong captan solution and 'painted' the pumpkin with it. Then I erected a shelter that let the sun hit the baby from sun rise till around noon. it stopped all that browning and grew fine afterwards. Had one this year start the same business, so I repeated and its growing fine.
