Yes, I believe that my pumpkin is finished growing and that the plant is dying. Will my pumpkin survive the time till weigh off? If not can I get it officially weighed or not? John Hoepfner If not why not?

In 2002 i had a pumpkin vine rot so i picked it at the end of august. It weight 571 lbs when i picked it. 5 weeks later i took it to the weigh off and it droped to 540 lbs. It lost 31 lbs. But i had to clean every small sore that developed so that they wouldnt spread and rot the pumkpin. It also made it to holloween and then carved it. So it can be done.

Last year i had one still sound even though it was off the vine over a month just sitting outside. over 2 months if you count the time i fought a rotting stem.

I pulled my plants last August around the 15th. Covered one pumpkin with a silver tarp and it lasted through the end of October, even after being carved the last week of October.
