I've noticed a number of growers from eastern Canada complain regularly about the weather and how it negatively impacts growing giant pumpkins. We've also got people in northern Canada and Alaska growing under less than ideal conditions. However, didn't Howard Dill grow in eastern Canada? Just wondering out loud, how big his pumpkins could have been if he had been growing in a better climate?

The area where Howard Dill grew cannot be compared to other parts of the province. In Windsor and the valley where I live and on the south shore conditions are much better. On either end of the province, like Cape Breton and Yarmouth, conditions are more challenging. Most of mainland Nova Scotia is very well suited for growing almost anything.
