I have a pumpkin that is growing wheel shaped. I have tilted it back but it seems determined to tilt forward towards the stem. I have some heavy foam insulation under the stem but I am afraid that the stem might break. It is getting very hard for me to move it so I need some advice as to the best way to deal with this. thanks, Kathy

Pack some dirt along the side its trying to tip towards. The dirt will block it from tipping over. As the pumpkin gets bigger it will flatten on the bottom and get more stable

I thought wheels were just tall. Sounds like a birdbath growing down on stem especially if gets the "bowl" facing up on back side. Only reason I bring this up is so you can search on here and check years of diaries and how they dealt with it.

It is getting tall and but it wants to lean towards the stem. I will pack soil in front of it to stabilize it, hopefully when it starts to get flat on the bottom this will stop.

Joe's advice is a very good idea, if you can stop it from growing on the stem better. If you can't you can always dig out under the stem. I have done this and I know others that have also. It's a pia but it works.. Good luck.

Check out my diary from two tears ago. I grew one upside down on a pallet with the stem down through a hole in the pallet. It ended up 1578 pounds.

I couldn't find the diary but I was able to find this:

that is quite a pumpkin. That picture sure shows how to transport it.
