Twice I have been away for about five days. Both times the plants and pumpkins were around thirty days old and didn't need as much care as they did earlier in the season. I found it to be a good thing. No obsessing over rate of growth and measuring.Paid the neighborhood kid to water and train vines. When I came back, the pumpkins and plants were in great shape.When you don't see them for a while, the increase in growth is surprising.

I just drove back from the 1000 islands to check the vines and I was only gone for 1 day.
