Farming- a bunch of catastrophies that result in a lifestyle
|
I'll link a pic as soon as it's up, but here is what I have: I have a 4' by 4" heart shaped white area on one of the kins. It is actually a raised area, not sunken. No softness, no leaking, no 'fuzzy' spore growth, just this raised white heart right on top of the kin. I have been battling Bacterial wilt (pulled the plants that had that), and gummy stem blight, which I seem to have on the run now, as the old lesions are drying up on the stems and no knew leaves have been affected. I rubbed the spot down myclo 20 just in case. Any ideas?

I had a very similiar spot that my wife even suggested looked heart shape. I treated it with powdered sulphur you get at the local garden center. It dried the spot out and stopped all spread within two days. No idea what it is / was. Good luck.

I had this happen in 2011 due to burn. It grew out fine but shaped funny where it was burnt.

My pumpkin exhibited a similar spot as I've viewed in your picture. I didn't want to wait and have it get larger so I dusted with sulphur. The spot is now dry but stained a shade darker than the rest of the pumpkin. I imagine the spot will appear bigger as the pumpkin grows. I also had a burn a few years ago when a piece of black shade cloth found itself on top of my pumpkin. It was a mess but with the sulphur it grew to 1335 with a late pollination.
