I don't under stand why.
my soil test from the spring showed the best numbers I've seen. but the plants just don't have the nutrients getting taking up.

Are the nutrients all in available from for the plants to take up? And have you tested for disease?

Just what I'd think :)

I agree with Tconway. Have you also tried any Advanced Nutrients products? Sometimes plants may not have enough of a root system to pull up the nutrients needed for growth, blooming and fruiting. The products you might want to check out are root mass expanders.

look at the 3rd column and I think you will find your answer...

The K is through the roof compared to everything else. Are you foliaring anything?
Did you wash the leaves prior to sending?

In my opinion your issue is the excessive NO3 that is in the 19,000+ppm range when it should be about 10,000ppm lower. This is likely the cause of many of the issues you are having. Looking at your diary I was unable to find the spring soil test with the "best numbers", but I did see large leaves and a split main vine which all lead back to the high nitrogen. I also think I found the problem... http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=234329

I have run potassium percent slightly above 12 with no issues, but the high nitrogen will cause many issues. On a positive note I do not think you have any pumpkin related diseases.

Also, I have to ask the question of how was the material sampled because the lab is only as good as the samples you are able to provide them.

Lastly, my suggestion is to do nothing and next year you shoudl have less problems once the excessive nitrogen washes out of the soil profile.

7.6 ph explains the low micronutrients any thing over 7 they are pretty much not available.

High K and low CA could just be the growth phase of the plant. I've always been told by the agronomists that the rapid growth phase can show low CA (maybe falsely).

I think I would get a good micronutrient mix to spray as a foliar for the rest of the year and drench some Cal Mag, Epsom salts and a tiny bit of borax.

Something like 8 oz of Cal Mag, a TBLS of Epsom salts, and a 1/2 teaspoon of Mule Team 20 Borax for 1000 sq ft in enough water to disburse it good, unless you have an injector, then just put it in there and inject when you water....once every 7-10 days and retest in 3 weeks to see if you need to adjust more.

I'm confused. In the first column of the tissue test, where it says nitrogen shows 3.43 which shows it's low or deficient this is the first tissue test from Midwest that included nitrate nitrogen so I didn't even look at that number or understand it .Matt you are saying that I had high nitrogen . Which means I've been reading it wrong and I have added nitrogen to try to bring up the deficiency.am I reading this part of the test wrong . If so that is my real problem . I will be posting pictures of my leaves this year. two years ago I had the same exact problem . Where the leaves have look the same

Thanks for your help Cecil. Last year I had the same pH and still grew my 1399 . Tissues tests last year shown the only things that were low was manganese . which was locked up because the pH . funny thing is last year I stayed away from all forms of nitrogen . Because of the year before I used feather meal then blaming my problems that year on too high of nitrogen . Only to relive it again this year . I have a lot to learn

Don't we all Darren. I've done " zero " N other then whats in my sulfur and a few other nutrients and plants are happier then I've ever had.

This hobby can really drive a grown man nuts!

Go for a car ride with the windows up and scream or get a pillow and scream in it, sometimes works. :)
