I had a normal main vine running out about 7 ft, which then became a ribbon vine (looked like 3 vines together). The ribbon ran for about 4 ft and has now split into a 2 vine ribbon and a normal looking single vine. They both have females forming. I'm thinking to cut off the 2 vine ribbon. Does that sound correct? If so, is there a special way to cut the 2 vine ribbon?

Just cut the other vine back to the normal single vine and you will be fine.

As MN said just cut it back. I had this right away with my 1832.5 Midthun when it split i pinched off one of the vines and let the other go as the main. It has grown as a single vine since. However, i don't know if this will be the same for you but it has been a pain in the ass to grow...right after i pinched it the vine has cracked very easily, grown straight up in the air then lays down all crooked like but it did grow out of that and now has two pumpkins on...time will tell if they do well or abort
Best of luck to ya

Thanks MN and Jake, I just cut the double vine this am. Jake, interestingly enough, ALL the vines on this kin have been WELL up in the air (even secondaries). Definitely the most unique kin I've grown. Thanks again, Kurt

Last night I found a side vine that was a ribbon vine. I have never seen that before. It is now gone.
