you could try setting up a squirrel feeder away from the plants, give they something they like to keep them from hunting for food. If they ever find the seeds I think the only way is to get rid of them with a trap or your choice of extermination.
a plastic owl on a post might work, but they are pretty smart, you would have to move it around.

Corn Feeder Darren. Squirrels will take corn over kins any day I believe. I have corn feeders up and the coons and squirrels have left the patches alone for the past 5 years here. Simple board with two nails sticken up through and the whole corn on cob stuck down on them attached to a tree. Its not just for winter around here, lol. Google one and you'll see what I mean.

Funny story on the plastic owl Cecil..I put up plastic owls and squirrels chewed the side of one of the owls face off and the birds use both to dump on,lol.

They are smarter than you think. We have hundreds around here and fortunately they leave the pkns alone. They have destroyed my tomatoes every year... nothing works. I got home from work today and it looked like it had hailed until I realized it was just my tomato plants ripped up. They'll figure it out in a few days. I have set traps and so far I have caught a coon, a fox and 1 Robin. Go figure.

Get an extra large rat zapper--and a case of D cell batteries.
I have one, and it works.

We have used a "have a heart" trap in past...it works, but if you have a small "colony" of the little pukes, it could take forever! Good luck, Darren!!!
