I have been comparing my 1513 Sherwood to the 1916 Barron. The 1916 is growing about more than 1 foot behind the 1513. They were both planted the same day on the 21 of May. The 1916 is developing females slower than the 1513. The 1513 has a fruit round like a grape fruit. The 1916 had a fruit pollinated two days later. 5 days later the fruit did not grow and was aborted. When the plants were small the 1513 has its stem snapped halfway and the 1916 had its main vine twisted due to high winds. But, it is still early. I was just wondering if someone had this plant growing slowly.

with all this in breeding we have a lot of ribbons going on.My 1768,2323,1947 all had plants that did that.Thats the cost of bringing the same genetics back in again. What was the 1730 Werner grown from??

My 1916 is a good one...Great root system, longer fruitZ.. and yes slow on the females too....I think itZ busy growing a massive root system that will pay off come weigh off time. My 2002 Hawkley though burns easy and has ping pong ballZ for females while another growers Hawkley has long fruitz, both 2002's are agressive growers. Every seed has different genetic composition but with similar traitZ. Will have to wait till the end of the year to compare the end resultZ.

My 1916 has the biggest leaves I have ever had on a plant and is very aggressive. Great seed so far but it's a long season.

1730 Werner is 1494 Bordson X 1596 Werner.

If you look at my diary I measure all of my plants on June 12th and at that point was my slowest grower (other than the 179 as it has some early season issues). It was 83.5sq.ft. compared to the patch average of my other four 127.5sq.ft. However, this is only slightly behind so I would not consider this plant to be slow or have growth issues.
Regarding the pumpkin shapes I can say that from the greenhouse experiment where there were two 1916 Barron's growing there was a variance in shape. Per plant was consistent, but one plant was a longer shape (more like the 1730 Werner and the other more round (like the 2009 Wallace).
My field plant has a pumpkin with a long stem and longer shape to the pumpkin. So far no complaints;-)
