I have 2 pollinations that took on the main vine.
they are 3 days apart. The first one had less than perfect lobes with a shorter stem and not as good of an S curve, but it seems to be growing faster. both are shiny white long fruit. Could the second pumpkin not be at the same pace because the first one is getting all the juice?
How long should I wait to make sure I pick the right one?
Thanks for any feedback, I have always gone with my first kin, and it's hard to imagine cutting the larger one.

Assuming the second had good lobes and good position, go with it.

Go with the good lobe one,cut the other off soon or it will abort the keeper.

MN, and cojoe,
I had the same feeling,
I just measured and the first one is 36" 13dap,
and the better positioned one is 20" 10 dap,
should I still cut the bigger one
Thanks a lot for the info, I appreciate your wisdom

The first one will always grow faster initially, but I'm with Joe, better safe than sorry and go with the later fruit set.

the first one is 3 days older and getting first dibs on what the plant is putting out. Did you have 10 DAP on the first one? Im betting the second one is about the same size at 10 DAP as the first one was at 10 DAP.

Ultimately you have to go with your gut, but growing well, longer stem, better S curve, It sounds like you have already made the choice, take a deep breath and get r done soon or as MnFisher says, you will disk the second one aborting because it is getting starved out.
