I have 819 square feet of plant. One pumpkin that is growing on this plant is a bit larger than the size of a basketball. Because our other plants were not started as soon, this pumpkin was pollinated with itself. However, there is also another pumpkin on this plant that was pollinated later and with another plant. This second one is about the size of a tennis ball. What is the best way to determine which one to keep. Does it make a difference how it is pollinated?

The pollination wont affect how this years pumpkin grows. It only affects the seeds and what they will grow.

With a controlled cross you know that the seeds are going to grow a Atlantic Giant.

If there are no other cucurbita maxima in the vicinity then even the open pollinated pumpkin wouldn't be a very high risk of not being 100% Atlantic Giant.

The only other possible difference would be seed count. bees are very good at pollination and sometimes we aren't, so open pollinated ones can have more seeds.
