I just noticed that one of my best plants has split right down the vine not to far from the hill. I'm pretty new to this so I haven't ever had this before. Any information will greatly appreciated.

it happens. If it is lengthwise the plant wont be affected too much. put something over it to keep it dry. I use a 10x10 piece of plywood with legs made out of 2x2s about 1 ft long, and set a brick on it to keep it in place.

Agreed - main thing is to keep it dry but let it have air
