What is the barrier fabric you use in your patch and how do you like a it? Lastly where did you purchase it?

It is called aluminet. It is a reflective metalized shade cloth. We use 50%. It is very durable (Dr. Liggett has had the same stuff for over 8 years and it is still like new). And yes we like it.
Any shade cloth is probably the best wind screen you could use. It doesn't try to stop the wind (which just causes the wind to go over the barrier, which actually causes it to pick up speed)but by letting some of the wind through it really slows it down. This last Thursday we had 45 mph winds and our plants leaves were barely rustling.
It also helps repel aphids because the light reflecting off of it is so bright.
It can be purchased at many greenhouse supply stores and I'm pretty sure I saw it on amazon. We purchased ours from
http://envirotechgreenhouse.com/aluminet-reflective-shade-cloth. They sell it in bulk 7ft wide for .29 a linear foot. ITs pretty light so shipping it not terrible either. You can cut the 7 ft width into 2 pieces and it stretches to nearly 4 ft.

Thanks for the info. I have been using silt fencing and it helps but I was looking for something better.

Aluminet is great stuff. I use 40% on the top of my tables and 70% for my wind barriers. The silt fence creates a ton of heat and the aluminet breathes. Also, using layers of aluminet at different heights (3', 6', 8')to pollinate works well to lower air temps by 15 + degrees around the female.

If your looking for wind protect that's easy to set up. Check into Pocket Net Brand E Z fence by Volm Companies. Sold at Menards in 50 and 100 foot rolls.
