The Imperial car Clubs of California recently held their Statewide Car Show. Cars from other States were invited as well. Our Regal Red 1960 Imperial Crown Convertible won the "BEST OF SHOW" award at this 29th annual event. To see pictures, please see the Giant Pumpkin Photo page at www.hollandsgiants.com I know the page is supposed to be for giant pumpkin pics, but we were so proud of our car I couldn't resist!!
Back in the day Imperial was a separate marquee with its own assembly plant. There were 5 divisions of the Chrysler Corp. Plymouth - Dodge - Desoto - Chrysler - Imperial. Only 618 of the convertibles were made and 31 are know to exist today. Out of those only 4 or 5 are restored to "Showroom Condition". This car went through an 8 year, 3200 hr. frame off, nut & bolt restoration by an Imperial specialist. Just wanted to share. Hope you enjoyed a little break from pumpkins.
Thank you, Joel & Mari Lou Holland

Joel & Mari Lou,
Beautiful! Reminds me of my first car - 1959 Chrysler Imperial New Yorker. With the road salt here its long gone now! You can put a 4X4 sheet of plywood in the trunk!
Very, very nice and congratulations.

Thanks everyone for your kind words! Just a little more about the car. The Engine is a 413 cu. in. wedgehead with 350 H.P. and 470 ft. lbs. of torque, which was the highest torque rating of any production engine in the world in 1960. It has 6 way power seats that were very rare in that day. Both front seats also swivel out into the door opening for easy in & out. What looks like a 2nd dimmer switch on the floor is actually a radio search button and yes the radio still works along with the power antenna. It has a full leather interior in white, push button torqueflight transmission, torsion-air suspension, power windows, brakes, and steering. The electroluminescent dash lighting has no actual bulbs, the 6 layer material glows red & green in the appropriate places when energized. The steering wheel is much wider than it is tall for more leg room beneath and better visibility above. The turn signal lever is on the dash rather than on the column and the whole dash has aircraft style guages.
Thanks, Joel & Mari Lou
