So here is another problem I am having . Noticed today the base of the plant has a tiny split right were it comes out of the soil. Why is this and will it be fine or should I start another? THanks

Start another one or two and plant them all, then choose the most vigorous plant. It may end up being the one with the split. Last year a friend of mines plant had multiple Major twisting splits at the stump and she grew her new personal best. The plant didnt seem to care that it was split as long as the split runs the long way. Just my thought on it. Good luck

Fairly common as long as split runs parallel with vine. Nobody wants it to happen, but it does.

My 1734 had it in two spots. Base of the plant and then about three feet from the stump. You won't get a foaming stump, you have a built in drain. Use a stump cover though.
