Well after several years of growing the best hybrids out there for quality watermelons, and Charentais melons, and Ananas type melons, and having them *all* wilt right after fruit set, and thinking it may be bacterial wilt spread by cuke beetles, I finally decided it has to be fusarium wilt of some sort. Its always 100%, and seeing that watermelon is supposedly "immune" to bacterial wilt, it makes me certain its soilborne.
So, I know how to do grafts of seedlings, but where does one get rootstocks like Shintosa Camel or RS841 (C. maxima X C. moschata)? I only see wholesale dealers talk about it, doesn't anyone just have a packet or two of seeds for good cucurbit rootstock?
This would solve all melon problems for us, but no idea where to get seeds for rootstocks..
In studies they seem to use these two interspecific hybrids for melons, cukes, and watermelons.
