I was really hoping to grow my own seed this year, i only had 5 seeds that seemed okay so i started 4 of them but only 1 sprouted.
He so currently the runt of the group http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=235546
I have 3 spots and i still plan on growing it but i just wanted to know if you would do the same. This would be the first year that i have grown my own seed.

Last year I grew my own 443 and it was the runt out of 12 plants. Ended up losing the fruit at 903 pounds doing 46 pounds per day.
Would have been my largest of the year by a long shot!

Bummer you lost it. Did the plant ever catch up or did it just put all of its energy to the pumpkin?

You made the cross for a reason, so why not give it a shot.
Based on what you are describing the seeds were not fully mature, but now that it is up, it may surprise you. At a minimum, I would plant it and have something else beside it as a backup. Good Luck!

The plant caught and outgrew most of the rest. Plant covered 800 square feet.

Grow your own seed if the plant was healthy

The plant was one of the healthiest plants I have ever grown grower error caused it to go down...stem was not kept dry. I grew a second pumpkin about 200 pounds it was set on a secondary in September
