We all work together to grow this great sport/hobby.I think its great that we have several new company's looking to sponsor weighoffs events etc..I think the old school thinking of 1 sponsor feeds all is dead.This shouldnt be threat to anyone.The Sponsors them selves to to be open minded to sharing the stage with other company's.I know this is taking place now as the GPC has opened the gates to new sponsors.This is great! I think Ron Wallace is a first class guy as is his father.I would like to talk to Joel Holland I have never had the chance yet,but sure we will soon.Let the growing season begin.I hope we can all become & stay good friends.Leave old feelings behind and lets grow froward!Like Ron told me There is plenty of room for all.

IMMO...sponsors mean nothing!! It is a hobby! Looking to get rich$$$??? You better take up another hobby as this one requires WORK and i mean lots of it!!!If i grow a world record... i knew who grew it !!just like Gordon Graham and that is all that matters......

When did it become a a sin to make a dollar? Doing what you love?I know millions of people who have done it.Golfers,bowlers,fishernman,race car drivers.I havent made a dollar yet when I do I will let you know .I put it all back in.When I tell people outside this little circle about the folks who think making a dollar at this is wrong.They scratch there head & say REALLY??No one gets it??I will bring more new growers on board & grow this great SPORT as much as anybody ever has.You naysayers wont slow down a thing. Yes It will become a sport as it grows to huge prize levels in the next 10 years.Please get back on the porch if you can take the heat.

Why all of the hostility toward Mark? I can honestly say that Mark has always helped me every time I have needed it. He has given me answer to newbie questions on growing, information on membership, and even advice on growing when I was about to do something wrong. He has helped me out alot and I am not even a member of his club! If he was only in it to make money off of this great hobby then he wouldn't even bother helping a new grower like me. I think Mark deserves all of the credit that he receives for helping to grow the hobby of growing giant vegetables and fruit and for having the intelligence to develop fertilizers/growing aids that will help many great growers out there. Keep up the great job your doing Bubba!!!! Haters gonna hate!

I am definitely not taking offense! I believe that person would be found on the second post on this thread!! I just want to thank Mark for his dedication to our hobby and his hard work in developing new products to help growers everywhere. Some people are happy with being average! Not BUBBA! Mark should not be criticized for being an excellent grower. Maybe the people that criticize Mark should just work a little harder and maybe one day you will reach his level as a grower! Thanks again Mark!!!

Mark I see you are starting a big line up today. Can you tell me what was discussed when selecting the strongest plant to keep? Obviously vigor is looked at, but what about plants that develop flowers early? Nothing is worse that having a 600 square foot plant with undeveloped flowers

The hobby has never been in better shape. Bp,GPC and the internet along with clubs that provide growing info have been key in the growth. Bubbas approach has its merits. Nobody totally wrong or right in there club/business model. However,Mark i do wish youd get your teeth fixed :).

Hi Luke Yes I think this year I will follow Beni & let the plants get 10 feet long before I cull.We are looking for aggressive normal plants.I will start them at opposite ends so there roots dont grow together.I think yanking a plant with roots interwoven could cause disease issues.

The Canadians that I've met in the Pumpkin Community are the very best. They're supportive of all within our hobby and would likely give the shirt off their back if someone was in need. I'd like to think that we represent Canada extremely well when we interact with our American friends, whether in person or on BigPumpkins.com. But you embarrass me with your tone and your attack. I do trust that most Americans realize we aren't all like you.

Not to disrespect anybody or anything here on Kens great site.Just saying the bad car accidents that happen on here.Yes they are mostly bad car accidents(careless wreckless drivers).I have drawn the conclusion over the past 3 years.The are not a reflection of how the masses feel.They are just a handfull of crazy drivers behind the wheel looking for a thrill and some attention.So it is what is.Kinda like a Jerry Springer show!So lets grow forward.In time it will become less & less as this great Sport gets bigger & Bigger!!

If it wasn't for people like Mark, Pap, Pumpking, and a zillion others I have failed to mention, I wouldn't know jack shit about growing giant pumpkins.
I know more about soil, fertilizers, sprays, and plants than I ever did reading on my own- and it's a direct result of the people with experience freely sharing what they know on here.
Running into negative people here is like finding a worm in the apple. I didn't stop eating apples, just learned to look for the bad apples and not partake!!

This whole post has really gone sideways, and in actual fact, a lot of the pumpkin growing community is a pretty mixed and varied bunch.

There was that pumpkin guy in Germany that blew up his ex-girlfriends new boyfriend, that other pumpkin grower that murdered her husband (and then another guy), and now another pumpkin grower in the slammer for some weird behaviour with kids...and we all know other stories about this guy and that guy...how quickly we forget what a bunch of messed up people we really are...
