1.) Using Garden Soil to germinate seeds in
2.) Using a Soilless mix that is too wet
3.) Not using a heat source to keep the soil between 80°-85°F
4) Starting seeds in pots that are to small
5) Starting plants to early.(They should be in a large gallon pot for a maximum of 10 days)
6) Adding excessive fertilizer to starting mix.(the Baby pumpkin plant does not need it)
Feel free to add to the list

Spray paint your patch pocket knife bright colors. You will know what I am talking about when you have a full plant.

You only get to kill your seed/seedling once. So ditto on too wet potting soil-dont cook your seedling in greenhouse and dont let your favorite seedling freeze:) And try promix bad things happen when using cheap alternatives

New growers.....find someone who is willing and actually excited to share everything they know. Whether on line or growers with experience that live near you. Always do your homework....there is so much knowledge on line and people willing to help if you ask kindly. Lastly, get plenty of seeds to test germinate and start extras as backups because rookie mistakes will happen. We have all been there at one point and all of us doing this long enough has made every mistake possible. Thats the learning curve though...lol...so learn from others mistakes and plan ahead to try to be pro-active step by step instead of re-active which in many cases is too late. And P.S... dont plant too many in a small space and expect nothing but a jungle.

Avoid fiber pots when starting seeds. You will do root damage when removing transplants as roots will cling to fibers especially if you don't get plants in patch as planned(weather, work, etc.)
May not look like much lost but remember, every root counts.
