Depends on your design and depth of structure. I have to use a tarp structure over my pumpkins due to constant limbs\sticks falling from surrounding trees and hail. I can get by with 8x10 easily, and you can cut any remaining tarp or tuck it under the end with a clip. I also use it to keep rain off the pumpkin, and cover with a white sheet as well.

You better anchor your little hut down good High winds will take it downtown.Only problem When you anchor down the hut you may severe some roots that feed the kin.If I had sticks & such falling & hail I would cover the pumpkin with a quilt then a white sheet over that.A little cushy for the kin.Rain wont hurt your kin.Its good for it.

It's too hot and humid here for a quilt and I am afraid of rot. Plus I'm shaded the 2nd half of day from trees so more air the better. I only use 4 pieces of rebar as the anchor, so we are talking minimal soil disturbance. This simple design survived the same storm system that leveled Joplin in 2011 so ill be fine. lol
