Any advise from growers in Northern New Jersey region on when to start seeds indoors and then transplant to outdoor patch? Will not be protecting the plants from frost once outside. I have usually planted BigMax seeds about May 20- but this year making the plunge into the AG's and starting the seeds indoors. Want to avoid a frost catastrophe! Thanks in advance!

May 1st you are 80% frost free. May 15 you are 99% guaranteed frost free.

I am in Long Valley NJ, which is not too far from you. I planted April 15th last year and moved outside in early May. However, I will protect from frost if necessary. If I wasn't going to protect them, I would start a couple weeks later.

Awesome, another NJ grower, welcome to the addiction!. I usually plant the same day as Pmwstarr (April 15) however I am located in south Jersey.
Funny, this post reminded me that I keep forgetting to email you Mike and see how you are making out.
