The OVGPG presented a very informative and thought provoking seminar today. The use of their spray/drench program may be vulnerable to cost, but can ensure healthier plants through the season (which I believe is every growers main goal.) The verdict is still out on exactly which fungicides/chemicals adversely effect beneficial bacteria/fungi, but it can be assumed that anything meant to disrupt pathogenic buildup, may also inhibit beneficial populations as well in varying degrees. Depending on a fungicides residual activity or systemic values, would it be worth using soluble myco, subtillis, trichoderma etc to reinocate the plants during the season or would our use of chemicals and their activity in our plants and soil make the purchase a waste of funds?
