Garden is 50' x 30', north to south rectangle. Will grow two AG's. Where in the garden should I start them for the most benificial growth. I was thinking of starting each near the middle, one main heads south, the other north. Any issue with northward main growth? Thank you.

No problem with vine direction here. I suggest starting in the middle this year, then next year plant at the ends and grow to the middle. That way the second year you won't have your stump in the same spot where there could be a build-up of disease pathogens.

If you go grow one north & one south .The one growing south will get a quicker start. As the plants will grow towards the sun.My 1947 was headed south the 1395 was the flip plant headed north. The 1768 was headed north and the 1609 was headed south. Both southboud plants had the first pollination's as these plants were more aggressive.I believe due to there direction.East & west maybe a better way to go?As the sun would be more equal at early stages.Once the plants are 2/3s grown I dont think direction means Dang Diddily Ding Dang DonG!!

We've planted them going every direction and seen very little difference. I have noticed that the ones headed south and west tend to raise up and turn toward the east early in the morning, but unless there are high winds they will lay back down as the sun gets overhead and you can use bamboo stakes to control it.

Last year we planted back to back for the first time and in a north and south orientation as you are describing and they did very well (1718 went south and 1714 went north).

Just put them about 5 or 6 ft apart so they don't have to compete as much.

Thank you for all your advice. I will stick to North/South and hopefully have a 1700lb + each way also! Now just organizing amendments and seed choices. There are so many good options out there this year.
