I left my big pumpkin out all winter to rot. It froze multiple times and is now a pile of stinking mush. Will the seeds from it still grow or should I have removed and dried them last fall? The seeds look perfectly ok to me.

I had plants come up on there own from where pumpkin rotted. They are designed by nature to do so, think you'll be fine.

Pull a bunch out. Wash them with lots of water. Last rinse use a tablespoon of bleach/gallon H20 and soak for two minutes. Dry seeds -then do a test sprout trial. If theres nothing sprouted already in the pumpkin they should sprout-if mature. If you liked this cross its easier(less stinky) to pull seeds out last fall.
